Visiting Associate Professor in New Testament Studies

Brent Nongbri is joining the theology department as Visiting Associate Professor in New Testament Studies for the year 2017. Nongbri received his Ph.D. from Yale University (2008). He comes to Aarhus from Sydney, where he held an Australian Research Council Early Career Fellowship at Macquarie University (2013-2016). Nongbri is the author of Before Religion: A History of a Modern Concept (Yale UP, 2013) as well as several articles on topics concerning ancient Christianity and Judaism. In the last few years, he has been studying the Bodmer papyri, the Chester Beatty Biblical Papyri, and the Christian material from Oxyrhynchus in preparation for writing a book on the archaeology of Christian manuscripts. During 2017, he will be teaching courses on New Testament exegesis and early Christian history.
